Ah, feels like forever since I’ve updated! Happy belated Dragon Boat Festival! Because of the holiday Kevin and I actually had a few days off together (although we each had to request a day off to make them consecutive), so now I have a lot of stuff I want to write about! I’m glad we got the chance to get away and spend time together at least once this summer.. because I doubt it will happen again until fall. I have once again committed myself to a bunch of overtime in July, and we both have other projects and tutoring gigs that we’re working on in addition to work and studying Chinese. I figure I’ll work hard in July to help compensate for some of the ridiculous spending I did in June and come August I’ll only have 4 months of work left, so it’ll be downhill from there! Just gotta chug through July…

你好! So, after writing a distressed post last week about the mice invasion, things went from bad to worse. Within a couple of days of even knowing they were around they were all over the place. We couldn’t even sleep because they were coming into our bedroom every couple of minutes. Too much. After a completely sleepless Sunday night Kevin and I decided to check into a hostel for awhile. We both needed some sleep and I wanted to get out of there until we had a chance to fix the problem. We then came back to the apartment and deep cleaned, threw away/stored all food, sealed holes with steel wool, and laid traps. We came back several times to check before I agreed to move back home, but found no damage or droppings, and caught zero mice (slightly disappointing but I guess good). I would be lying if I said I wasn’t still scared one is going to sneak up on me (nor do I like being at home alone anymore- I don’t know why I’m so damn terrified of such little creatures) but it’s good enough for now I suppose. So, this week I’ll write about our time at Mr. Panda hostel.
Halfway Done!

Hello all! Happy June! I’m feeling very cheery about the beginning of June for a couple of reasons. The biggest one is that I’m exactly halfway done my contract this week! 6 months down, 6 to go! It’s not that I dislike my job or my current situation so much that I’m counting down as much as I just can’t believe it’s been 6 months.. It’s not the beginning anymore! Weird. I am a teensy bit psyched to finish my contract, though, because if we decide not to stay for another year that means it’s time to take some time off and travel! So exciting! Also, the second half of the year will likely be much more exciting than the first. We have 2 big holidays coming up where we can get away, and 2 weeks paid vacation we still have to take. So one month of that 6 we won’t even be working. We also have family coming to share some of that vacation time, which we’re so looking forward to. Plus, we have friends now, which makes the time pass much quicker. So, happy June indeed!
