A Night at Check Inn Hostel Hong Kong
Once again I had one night to stay in Hong Kong. Originally my school booked me a hotel in Mongkok, Kowloon, but due to some passport troubles requiring me to go to Macao and not being able to contact the hotel to tell them that I would be arriving after check in time, I had to change my hotel at the last minute. Around 9:30 at night I made reservations at Check Inn Hostel and emailed them informing them that I will not check in until 2:30 in the morning. Within an hour they emailed me back with the address and a passcode into the building.

So, for those of you who haven’t heard, I had to go on another visa run to Hong Kong. Hopefully it’s the last. Sadly, this run was not for my Z (working) visa. This is due to the fact that my school is fairly new and is having trouble acquiring a Z visa for me. When I was doing the research for my visa I found that from Hong Kong (or any other country besides the United States) I could not get a visa that gave a longer than 30 day stay in China. One can, however, get two extensions on this 30 day stay in country or get a 3 month multiple entry visa for 30 days at a time but this can quickly get expensive. However, I found out that China is fairly lax towards other countrie, so that if I used my Brazilian passport I could get a F (business) visa for 6 months in China without needing to leave!

Hello! This week was a little crazy with a bunch of work drama. It didn’t really involve or effect me, no worries, but still added a little chaos. But it kept things interesting! Besides picking up some extra shifts to keep things smooth at work, Kevin and I still managed to have a bit of fun. After my work gig at the park on Saturday (pics to come!) we went to a club with friends from his work. They were having a Titanic themed night.. so everyone was dressed like sailors and there were buoys hanging from the ceiling. And a bunch of performances on the stage with varying degrees of relevance to the plot/theme. And of course an epic Celine Dion remix or two. Anyway, it was a little strange but made for a really fun night and a good end to the week.
HK: Lamma Island
Hello, all. This has been a busy week (do I say that every week?), but a really fun one! Kevin had a work party that was pretty.. interesting to say the least. It involved alcohol during working hours, and a game that consisted of daring people do to embarrassing things… which got (surprise) pretty embarrassing. Thankfully we didn’t play and enjoyed the entertainment from afar.

Riding the Peak Tram is an obligatory HK experience, so after I submitted all my visa paperwork I decided to head that way. The tram is the most direct way to get up to Victoria Peak, where you can score amazing views of the rest of HK island and Kowloon. The fact that this huge, green peak exists in the middle of the bustling HK island is amazing to me, and I was excited to get up to the high levels.
Downtown HK
Oh, man. Just found out that it’s not quite time to relax yet. I thought I just had to make it to Friday and I was home free, but alas, no such luck. Next week there is a holiday, so I get a day off of work! However, to compensate I have to work Saturday and Sunday. Blah, a 7-day work week is the most fitting way for this month to go out, isn’t it? March is determined to totally wear me out.
